The Woods Street Youth Art Prize is open to young people aged 14 to 25 years who study, live, work, or have a connection to the western suburbs of Melbourne from the Cities of Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong, Brimbank, Melton, Moonee Valley, Geelong or Melbourne. This exciting opportunity invites emerging artists to share their work, connect with the community and be part of an exhibition.
We welcome a wide range of artistic practices, including 2D, 3D, film or performance art pieces. Each artist can submit a maximum of two artworks.
Expressions of Interest (EOI) can be submitted online via until 3pm Friday 12 June 2026.
Prizes include
- Open Category - $1000
- Runner up Open Category - $500
- Hobsons Bay Artist - $500
- Artist Encouragement Award (under 20) - $200
- Artist Encouragement Award (over 20) - $200
- People’s Choice Award - $400
All selected artworks will be exhibited at Woods Street Arts Space in Laverton as part of the Woods Street Youth Art Prize exhibition, Friday 4 September until Saturday 19 September 2026. Outside of special events, the exhibition opening hours will be 12-5pm Thursday-Saturday during these dates.
EOIs must include:
- Images of artwork/s to be exhibited
- Title of artwork/s to be exhibited
- Artwork/s dimensions in cm (where applicable)
- Artwork/s medium
- Year artwork was created
- A short description outlining the ideas, concept and theme of the artworks and or project (max 50 words)
- A short artist statement (max 30 words)
Applicants must read the {Terms & Conditions} prior to submitting and application. All applications for artists under the age of 16 must be submitted by a guardian.
